Summer 2019 Taking Stock News AMP Capital People’s Choice Award AMP Capital is proud to be a platinum sponsor of Philanthropy New Zealand and the 2019 Philanthropy Summit taking place at Te Papa from 15-17 May 2019. The biennial Summit is New Zealand’s largest gathering of sector leaders, strategists, disruptors and innovators, including many of our clients. This year’s Summit has Dr Jane Goodall DBE – world-renowned ethologist, humanitarian, conservationist and UN Messenger of Peace – as a keynote speaker. As part of the event, the Philanthropy Awards will be presented to celebrate outstanding achievement, innovation and leadership in the philanthropic and grant making sector. This includes the AMP Capital People’s Choice Community Changemaker Award, which recognises a community organisation that is creating positive social or environmental change with the support of philanthropic funding. Nominations for this award are now open and the winner will be decided by a public vote in April. We look forward to seeing all the great stories from out there in the community and would encourage you to take the time to vote for a worthy recipient. Find out more New global capability for local investors In response to growing demand for global equity exposure from New Zealand investors, we recently launched the AMP Capital Global Companies Fund. This long-only fund aims to deliver double-digit returns, via a concentrated portfolio of 25 to 35 companies with strong wealth-creation credentials. Leveraging our global capabilities enables us to bring innovative solutions to our clients, and it was great to introduce the investment team behind this new capability to many of you during roadshow events in 2018. Look out for more events around New Zealand in 2019 with members of the global equities team and other visiting specialists across our broad range of capabilities. You can read more about this new capability in the Product Spotlight section. Thank you for your contribution As part of our 2018 client experience survey, AMP Capital made a donation for each completed response to the Key to Life Charitable Trust, which aims to change the way New Zealanders think, act and feel about mental health. Thank you again to those that participated. We were proud to support this cause as part of AMP’s partnership with Key to Life and the I AM HOPE tour a wonderful initiative led by mental health advocate Mike King that helped educate communities around the social change that is needed to reverse the incidence of suicide. AMP will be continuing this partnership in 2019 and we look forward to inviting Mike to speak to our staff and clients this year about this important issue and the great work they are doing in communities around New Zealand. 8 Find out more
